Hi Mary & Jude can you post to website and Facebook
Well what a difference a bit of wind makes. The wind predicted came to fruition. We had to pay the debt of basking in the sunshine from the previous few days. Keith asking the question why do they winds always pick up at night. Hurtling into the black abyss, we were beginning to question were we doing the right thing, but looking at all the twinkling lights around us we were not the only ones on this mission to find a rock somewhere off Ireland.
Well we found it and this time in daylight! The Fastnet Lighthouse was in our sights, slightly shrouded in mist to add to the dramatic effect.
With Jude at the helm we rounded the rock. The sun shone as we passed allowing us a quick photo opportunity as we passed. Then it was back to business, finding the quickest route home.
Day turned into night and night into day, we were beginning to fall into a routine. Where were we, who were we and what are we doing here!!! Head sail changes, long spinnaker runs and the odd spot of repair on the heads!
Daylight on day four passing Bishops Rock we made a spinnaker peel. Lighter winds required a pink lady and she didn't let us down. We were off to our next mark the Lizard.
Time to freshen up new keggs on, old ones binned, even Ballistic got a quick clean down, she was beginning to whiff, with 10 on board things do begin to hum. You can probably smell us from the Midlands!!!
A few hours yet before the bar calls, but we are all dreaming of the first drink.............
