Travel and Transport
Travelling around Plymouth, whether as a support for a boat, or as the competitor, is easy; once in the centre everything is in a walkable distance. Transport is only essential for getting to and from the railway station and across the water, from the Plymouth Yacht Haven to the Barbican.
Free Ferry Service - Mount Batten water taxis
Mount Batten water taxis are operated by Sound Cruising Ltd and offer a regular daily service between Mount Batten and the historic Barbican. During the Rolex Fastnet event, from Wednesday midday until Saturday midday the ferry will be run 24 hours per day, with thanks to Plymouth City Council and the Plymouth Waterfront Partnership. Competitors wearing wristbands will not be charged to travel on the ferry during this time.
Outward: The Barbican to Mount Batten Green, via QAB
The ferry departs the Barbican via the pontoon next to the Mayflower steps every quarter past and quarter to the hour.
Inward Ticket: Mount Batten to The Barbican via QAB
The ferry departs Mount Batten via the jetty next to the pub, every hour and half past the hour.

At the finish of the race, the majority of the fleet will be berthed at the Plymouth Yacht Haven where the Race Village will be situated. For those who wish to get across to the centre of Plymouth you can use the Mount Batten Ferry. This daily ferry runs between the Barbican and Mount Batten. For those competitors who will have access to a car, then the journey from Mount Batten to the centre of Plymouth is around 15-20 mins and the first point of crossing the river Plym is the Laira Bridge.
