« Tell me about your Fastnet », stories of sailors from Normandy and elsewhere
On the occasion of the 50th edition of the Rolex Fastnet Race, the organizers of the finish are producing a documentary highlighting all the stories around the race. This docu-film, called "Raconte-moi ta Fastnet, histoires de marins normands et d'ailleurs" (Tell me about your Fastnet, stories of sailors from Normandy and elsewhere), is directed by François Dourlen from Normandy, who is known for his original and offbeat shots.
On this occasion, sailors from Normandy and elsewhere are asked to share their best memories or anecdotes of the race. Charlie Dalin, winner of the last edition of the IMOCA race, was the first to take part in the game, along with Martin Louchart and Clara Fortin, two young sailors from Manche.
The film will be presented at the finish in Cherbourg. Jean-Louis Valentin explains the approach: "The race has existed since 1925, there are so many stories and anecdotes that characterize it but also links that unite our territories. Through this project, we want to collect the memories, enhance them and make them known to the public. Beyond the sporting aspect, ocean racing is a real human challenge.
Sailors who wish to contribute their testimony can fill out the online application at https://urlz.fr/iP9o before October 31, 2022.
Several filming dates in Normandy will be proposed between December 2022 and February 2023.
